In Jane Austin’s Novel Northanger Abbey she poses the question “Can one read too many novels?” I whole heartedly reply, “No Way! Well, I hope not. If you can I am in some serious trouble.” I love reading it’s one of my passions in life and lately I have found myself immersed in Novels. I think there is much to be learned from novels BUT in an attempt to push myself out of the current comfort zone(and you all as well…if you’ll join me) I thought it might be fun to do monthly challenges. Your challenge can be anything. You could challenge us to read books from a particular author, time period, or on a specific subject. Challenge us to go places we’ve never been before. You could challenge us to read a book by an Australian author or a Civil War book. We could have a month devoted to poetry or mystery. What ever your little heart desires! I will take the month of March and then whoever wants to be in charge of April’s challenge let me know in the comments.
So for this month’s challenge….Going back to my original question I thought it would be fun to read at least ONE (1) NON FICTION book this month. Anything you want. It could be a book on Finances or Knitting, The French Revolution or Parenting, A Biography or Pliates Instruction Manuel. The sky is your limit. I am excited to dive into the world of Non-Fiction once again(not for too long I’ll miss my novels oh so much) and I am more excited to see all the great books you are reading. You have a week till March 1st to search, explore, and discover the books that are waiting for you. Are you in? Let me know what you think of this whole “Challenge” idea ( Am I being ridiculous?) and if you want to host the “Challenge” next month!
I think its a great idea. I am a novel junkie and I'm not even sure I know where the nonfiction section of the library is. It is good to branch out.
ReplyDeleteYes. I think I will take this challenge. I was at Books A Million tonight and was looking for AustenLand by Shannon Hale
ReplyDeleteIt wasn’t there but they ordered it for me so I think I'll read it next since March doesn’t start for a few days and then start, But I have NO clue where to start in the Non-Fiction but I think this is going to be fun! Great Idea~
i'm on it. i will rise to the challenge. i will strap that board onto my feet and let my hair blow in the wind. the next inspirational picture you see will be me reading my non-fiction book for the month!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds fun. I don't remember the last time I read a non fiction book and as sister Menghini said I don't know where the non fiction part of the library is.
ReplyDeleteI would like to take the next avalible month. (that really sounded weird to my ears :) ).
so whatever is the nest moth that is free i'll take it so be the "challenger." comment my blog with the month.
Hey Andrea - totally cool idea! Count me in. I've already got several NF in mind that I've had my eye on for awhile. Now that I think about it, I'm already currently reading one. Does it have to be newly started in March?
ReplyDeletePS - I would also love to be a "challenger" some time! If that's Ok, justlet me know when my month is!
No the book doesn't have to be newly started in March. I would love to hear about any NF that you have enjoyed...I have a few that I have read recently that I will post as well.
